Highlights from our annual Patty’s Birthday Hell Yes Safari. We had to end the adventure too early because of the hound. It was Dusty’s (aforementioned hound) first time jeeping. She got hella motion sick and was drooling buckets. By lunch we decided to call it quits because we were soaked in hound spit and too grossed out to eat sandwiches. But hey, we found a trail we’ve never ridden, unacquainted cacti and this nice herd of wild horses!

Ode To Our Jeep
Our bouncy bucket is 13 years old today! Enjoy this chronological collage I made to mark the occasion. I’ve never owned a vehicle this long but it’s my intention to drive this tiny truck ’til I curl up dead in the dirt. Thanks, little Jeep for making our lives a sight seeing adventure 🙂 We know you’re just a dumb, dirty machine but we love you like a filthy pet! Happy birthday & ramble on, dirt monster…
Beyond The End Of The Road
Wandering around the desert again 🙂
Random Sightings
Tuesday: We rode around most of the day taking pictures. We drove for a few hours all the way into the high desert (around Miami, AZ). Here’s some stuff we saw along the way…
They Have Us Surrounded!
Our yard is partially encircled by vacant lots. Before we moved here everything was graded flat for houses but some were never built. That’s cool with us. The whole area has become a well established prairie dog town and provided us with comic entertainment for over ten years!
These are different critters from the larger prairie dogs that live on the high plains and Midwestern U.S. Some folks call these ground squirrels. The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum lists them as “Black Tailed Prairie Dog” …so there.
Sometimes they come over and nibble at our plants and birdseed but have otherwise been good neighbors. Seems they have the community concept well figured. The hawks and owls love them, too!
