Description
Some mornings Carl (the Coyote) can be seen wandering down our street, strolling by our house. I imagine his night of chasing bunnies and other small varmints. A brassy stride and satisfied disposition… the hunt was good and so is the day.
Patty constructed this pillow from new and a few select vintage materials.
Appliques of silk, wool, and cotton on a backdrop of linen denim and cottons.
The colors are the rich palette of the Southwest desert.
The coyote is felted wool, he’s furry and soft to the touch.
The saguaro is a textured chartreuse raw silk.
The desert floor is linen and twill with cotton flowers.
The mountains are denim and a yellow cotton sun rises over a few remaining stars and fluffy white vintage cotton clouds (with a with subtle detail of small patterned dots).
All layers are built on a hidden structured base that retains the pillow’s shape.
All characters are stitched securely in place with chocolate brown thread.
The back of the pillow is ultra suede with a sweet heart in the bottom corner.
The back opens with three gold snaps.
Inside is a handmade pillow with soft new fluffy stuffing.
The pillow is on the larger side: 20 inches wide by 22.25 inches tall.
It’s a perfect conversation piece for your living room couch or a favorite chair.
A few similar coyote pillows exist but each is unique in it’s materials and all have differences in their design details.
This pillow is made from scratch by Patty Sparger based on a drawing by Guy Sparger.
Gentle spot cleaning or dry cleaning recommended.
